(13) Barry Knights 1941-2009

(Below: Email from Daniel Scott to Uckfield Youth Trust / skatepark group)

Hi Guys,

It is great to see the park plans taking shape.

Unfortunately I have some bad news:
I would just like to let you all know that last Tuesday evening Barry
Knights passed away. It is hard to understate how instrumental he has
been in getting this project off the ground, and it is unfortunate
that he can't be there for the opening. He was rightly proud of what
we have achieved thus far, and I've no doubt we will create something
worthy of his memory.

I will speak with Ashley to ensure that we cover Barry's ongoing
tasks, so the project development is unaffected.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday 16th April at Holy Cross
Church at 12.30. It is public and I would encourage everyone to come.

The report of his death can be found here:

[some slightly inaccurate reporting regarding our total, but not a biggie]

Dear All...

I was really shocked to hear the news about Barry Knights, he will be greatly missed as he was a true gem of a human being. Such an amazing man.
Although I only met Barry a few times I have to say that he made a real impression on me; he seemed such a wonderful and genuine man whos dedication and enthusiam shined through all. Without Barrys' dedication Uckfield would probably not have their soon to be Uckfield Skatepark. I for one, suggest that the Uckfield Skatepark should be named in his memory;

'The Barry Knights Memorial Skate Park'

'The Uckfield Barry Knights Skate Park'

'The Barry Knights New Barn Skate Park'

What do other people think of this idea?

Kind Regards,

Kevin
